Viktor Bodó

Viktor Bodó was born in 1978 in Budapest. He made his breakthrough as a director in 2005 with an adaptation of Franz Kafka’s The Trial at the Katona József Theater in Budapest. In 2008, Bodó founded his own theatre group, the Szputnyik Shipping Company. He works regularly in German-speaking countries, and has directed at Schauspiel Cologne, Deutsches Schauspielhaus Hamburg, the Volkstheater in Vienna, Schauspielhaus Zürich and the Deutsches Theatre in Berlin. His production of Peter Handkes’ The Hour We Knew Nothing of Each Other was invited to play at the 2010 Theatertreffen Festival in Berlin. In 2016, he was awarded the Europe Prize Theatrical Realities by the Union des Théâtres de l’Europe.At Schauspiel Stuttgart he staged The Exterminating Angel based on the film by Luis Buñuel and Fabian or Going to the Dogs by Erich Kästner.
