Jan Sobolewski

Jan Sobolewski was born in Poland in 1988. After his studies at the Ludwik Solski State Drama School in Krakow, he had his first experience in theater with Krzysztof Garbaczewski in the production Podwórko at the Four Cultures Festival in Łódź. He went on to become a member of the ensemble at the Polish Theater in Bydgoszcz, where he worked with such directors as Rabih Mroué, Anna Smolar, Wiktor Rubin, Michal Borczuch, Weronika Szczawińska, Paweł Wodziński, and Bartek Frąckowiak. Sobolewski has also acted in independent theater, including award-winning productions by Oliver Frljić and Magda Szpecht. Following his tenure in Bydgoszcz, he began working as a freelance performer, and has appeared with such ensembles as She She Pop at HAU Berlin for Oratorio in 2018, and in Michal Borczuch's performance Żaby at the Studio Theater in Warsaw, the latter of which earned him a Best Actor Award at the 11th International Divine Comedy Theater Festival in Cracow in 2018. Sobolewski has been a member of the Nowy Teatr in Warsaw and the European Ensemble since January 2019.
