Harwan, a 30-year-old student from Montreal who is to soon defend his thesis, finds himself locked inside one of the rooms in the Hermitage in St. Petersburg over night after a series of wholly trivial occurrences. The night will last more than 2000 years and, without him having been able to anticipate it for even a second, will lead him back to his mother tongue that, concealed under deep layers, appears long forgotten.
Seuls is a part of Wajdi Mouawads cycle of creation named Domestique. In this, Mouawad explores new practice and narrative and sketches an extensive family cartography. Commencing with the monologues Seuls and Soeurs, as well as the duo Frères, the cycle is to be completed in the coming years withmother and father. From various perspectives, a complex reality will be described. The grand story of a family perceived through the prism of the inner self.
