Sven Prietz was born in Leipzig. He studied at the Bavarian Theatre Academy for Music and Theatre in Munich, and was an ensemble member at Schauspiel Frankfurt from 2001 to 2006. In 2006, he became an ensemble member at Mannheim National Theatre, where he won the Arnold Petersen Prize in 2007 for his outstanding achievement as an emerging artist. In 2012, he staged The Ugly One by Marius von Mayenburg together with graduates of the Mannheim Theatre Academy. Prietz became an ensemble member at Schauspiel Stuttgart in the 2018/19 season. He has enjoyed a long-standing working relationship with Burkhard C. Kosminski, and has often appeared in his productions. During his time in Stuttgart so far, he has worked with the directors Achim Freyer, Oliver Frljić and Zino Wey.
