Elisabeth Costello: Siedem wykładów i pięć bajek z morałem
At the centre of Krzysztof Warlikowski's new production is the fictional literary character Elizabeth Costello. In her lectures and essays, she talks about philosophy, the environment, social and existential issues. In doing so, she appeals to our conscience by drawing attention to animal cruelty, social injustice and the marginalisation of old and infirm people. The character from various Coetzee texts is also a recurring protagonist in Warlikowski's theatre. Born in Cape Town in 1940, author J. M. Coetzee has been honoured several times for his work, which spans novels, non-fiction and essays and blurs the boundaries of genres, including twice with the British Booker Prize for Literature and the Nobel Prize for Literature. His texts deal with the meaning of humanity in the context of social and political grievances.
A co-production with the Nowy Teatr, Warsaw and Festival d’Avignon, Théâtre de Liège, La Colline – théâtre national, Les Théâtres de la Ville de Luxembourg, Athens Epidaurus Festival, Malta Festival Poznań 2024
