Born in Luxembourg, André Jung studied acting at the State University of Music and Performing Arts Stuttgart, and was subsequently engaged at the Theater Basel, the Deutsches Schauspielhaus in Hamburg and Schauspielhaus Zürich, among others. From 2003 to 2015 he was an ensemble member of the Munich Kammerspiele, where he worked with the directors Johan Simons, Armin Petras, Jossi Wieler (Rechnitz: The Exterminating Angel) and Alvis Hermanis, among others. From 2013 to 2016, Jung acted in Ariadne on Naxos at Stuttgart State Opera, directed by Jossi Wieler. In 1981 and 2002, he was voted Actor of the Year by the Theater heute journal jury. He also received, among others, the Nestroy Prize for Best Actor in 2009, the Friedrich Luft Prize in 2014 and, most recently, the Gertrud-Eysoldt-Ring in 2019 for his role as the narrator in Georg Büchner's Lenz at the Schauspielhaus Zürich. In addition to his theater work, Jung also regularly appears on television and in films, and has appeared in over 50 radio plays. At Schauspiel Stuttgart, he appeared in We Are Such Stuff as Dreams Are Made On during the 2019/20 season.
