Alina Sarnatska

Alina Sarnatska, born in Ukraine in 1987, is a playwright, writer, radio host, and war veteran. She lives in Kyiv. Her work explores resilience, trauma, and social justice, with a particular focus on veterans, women affected by violence, and communities impacted by war, combining testimony, research, and community-based practice. Her recent projects include the book Those Who United Love and Courage: LGBTQ+ Veterans in the Russo-Ukrainian War, the radio programmes [In]Justice, Strict Reprimand, and Volunteers, as well as her work as writer-in-residence at the Theatre of Playwrights in Kyiv.
She is the recipient of the Ukrainian awards Lipnevyi Med (2024), Week of Contemporary Plays (2024), and Drama.UA (2025), received two awards at ATYPOWO in Wrocław, Poland (2025), and was a finalist for the Aurora Drama Award in Bydgoszcz, Poland (2025). She also founded the volunteer support network Teplonosiї, which has supported wounded soldiers with 64 members since 2022.
