Stella Lennert
Stella Lennert works as a set and costume designer and video artist, primarily for theatre productions and performative formats. She studied stage design under Johannes Schütz at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf and began assisting at the Berliner Ensemble while still a student. After completing her diploma, she was engaged at the Bühnen der Stadt Köln and subsequently worked at numerous venues throughout the German-speaking world, including Oper Stuttgart, Volkstheater Wien, DNT Weimar, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Oper Chemnitz, and Landestheater Linz.
She combines classical scenography with video, interactive media, and digital spaces, and regularly collaborates with directors including Anna Weber, Alexander Eisenach, David Moser, and Mechthild Harnischmacher. Together with her sister Viv Lennert, she forms the team LEN!, which develops stage and exhibition spaces, video works, and virtual reality environments. In collaboration with sound artist Jakob Lorenz, she also creates immersive works at the intersection of scenography, sound, and digital art.
In 2022/23, Stella Lennert held a fellowship at the Academy for Theatre and Digitality at Theater Dortmund. In 2023 she received the Hein-Heckroth Bühnenbildförderpreis, awarded by Ulrich Rasche.
