Буна
Buna tells the true story of a family: a buna ("grandmother" in the Bukovinian dialect) and her granddaughter live under the same roof, even though they live in completely different worlds. The play is a parable about the gap between the generations and the irreconcilable extremes that they encompass. The grandmother brings up her granddaughter according to her own ideas, in which she also resorts to harsher methods. Finally, the young girl, longing for a change and a new life, decides to go abroad. Will she manage to put down roots in a new place? What do national self-confidence, traditions and culture mean in the modern, constantly changing world?
The actors spent a month in a Bukovinian village in Ukraine and immersed themselves in local life and its customs and ancient songs.
