Benedikt Brachtel
Benedikt Brachtel has worked since 2010 as a freelance composer, sound artist, and music producer, and is based in Munich. Over recent years he has composed theatre music for around 30 productions at major German-language venues, including Münchner Kammerspiele, Schauspiel Basel, Maxim Gorki Theater Berlin, Berliner Ensemble, Schauspiel Köln, and Schauspiel Graz.
He collaborates regularly with directors including Ersan Mondtag, Alexander Eisenach, Jessica Glause, and Tobias Staab. Between 2018 and 2022 he composed several commissioned works for Schauspiel Köln in productions directed by Ersan Mondtag. He has also realised numerous music productions in his own recording studio in Munich-Obersendling.
He is also active in music theatre: for the Bayerische Staatsoper he composed the works Noah, Moses, Eva & Adam, and Catarsi, three of which he conducted himself at their world premieres. In 2024 he composed an orchestral suite for the German Pavilion at the 60th Venice Art Biennale, which he recorded together with the Münchner Symphoniker.
Alongside his work for stage and theatre, Benedikt Brachtel performs internationally as a musician and DJ, including in Tokyo, London, Paris, New York, Los Angeles, Rome, and Berlin.
