Ms Yamamoto Is Still Here
Kammertheater

A woman vanishes. A man worries about a magnetic heart. A man and a woman can't move in together as the woman has to care for her elderly mother. Two fishers converse. One invites the other into a party advocating gun ownership for self-defence. A child wonders as to the whereabouts of someone who has died. In a loosely interwoven series of scenes, Dea Loher draws snapshots, associative spaces and sketches of people crossing paths, meeting briefly, loosing each other again and disappearing. As if out of nowhere, they enter the picture for a moment and walk off again. Repeatadly, the characters orbit around the unknown Mrs Yamamoto and the big questions of life, their own existence, loss, decay, death and love, loneliness and the search for proximity. In an increasingly unreliable and fickle world, language provides stability - and the stage turns into a place of reassurance in one's own self. Playwright Dea Loher is one of the most important and distinguished voices in German-language theatre. Her new play Frau Yamamoto ist noch da first premiered in Japan. The German premiere is being staged at Schauspiel Stuttgart.
