Anna's father quest for the perfected crispy potato gold is his greatest fulfilment. His partner Mimi, on the other hand, struggles with her place at the deep fryer and dreams of a different life. When Anna unexpectedly returns to the small-town housing estate just before completing her studies and plans for a shopping centre threaten the existence of the chip stand, the familiar order of things begins to unravel.
