Intrigue and Love

Luise loves Ferdinand, Ferdinand loves Luise. He is a major and the son of a powerful president; she is the daughter of a musician. What begins as a radical declaration of love turns into a conflict with a society in which class and social boundaries are regarded as divine. Passion renders Ferdinand blind and fanatical; absolute morality makes Luise vulnerable to blackmail. Thus, Intrigue and Love is both a political drama and a love tragedy.
