After graduating from high school in Dresden, Valentin Richter volunteered at a care centre for the homeless in Toulon as part of the European Voluntary Service. He went on to study drama at the Hamburg University of Music and Drama from 2014 to 2018. During his studies, he appeared as a guest actor at the Thalia Theatre, and acted in productions at the Deutsches Schauspielhaus Hamburg, at the Kampnagel Theatre and the St. Pauli Theatre. In a national competition for German-speaking trainee actors in Stuttgart in 2017, he won the ensemble prize with his cohort. Richter joined Schauspiel Stuttgart during the 2018/19 season, and has worked with the directors Viktor Bodó, Luk Perceval, Patrick Wengenroth, Oliver Frljić, Nuran David Calis, Tina Lanik, Niels-Peter Rudolph, Thomas Birkmeir, Achim Freyer, Calixto Bieito and Daniel Hoevels, among others.
